New Pedestrian Refuge Crosswalk at 126th to slow speeding
We have gotten in contact with the proper authorities and are in works with coming up with a resolution to finally slow the speeding all along Broadway between El Segundo & 120th This project is something that has been in the works for the last year and a half. The goal is to establish Pedestrian Refuge Islands with Yellow Flashing lights on 126th and Broadway as well as Yellow flashing lights at 122nd St & Broadway. We are finalizing the final draft to be submitted in February 2023. If approved work will begin in 2026 depending on approved budget.
Angled Parking for Eastside of Broadway between 121st & 124th
Parking has become one of our biggest concerns in this community. With that in mind the idea is to create more parking spaces with assigned numbers for each unit along Broadway. What angled parking does is solve 3 things. It creates a road diet by shrinking down the road to being one lane going Northbound, which will reduce street racing, seemingly as there will only be one lane. As well as it will also create more parking spaces for the community and the streets adjacent to Broadway. With assigned numbers it allows our community to establish order. Ending all if not most
disagreement's about parking. Everyone will finally respectfully have their own parking now.
New EV Charging Station for electric Cars Installed at Athens park
APCC was given information that Athens Park may soon be getting new charging stations for electric vehicles. These may be set to be installed by Mid 2028 or earlier. We will keep you updated as this comes along.
UPDATE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH SIGNS
APCC field Reps have canvased the entire community to survey and record the data for all Neighborhood Watch Signs that need upgrading and/or replacement.. There are a total of 48 signs within our community. We are in the process of getting in contact with the proper agency to get placement for said signage throughout the entire community. The goal is to replace and /or update all old signage that is no longer readable or is missing.
Roundabout Traffic Circle at 124th, Athens Way/Blvd & Laconia Blvd
This very wide intersection has always been a welcome magnet for street racers and donut drivers. We at APCC have found something that might be an effective deterrence to push these reckless drivers away from our community once and for all. This Roundabout Traffic Circle is an effective way to finally end all of the burnouts. This is a model of what it would look like at that particular intersection on 124th, Laconia Blvd, Athens Way & Blvd. We have submitted this Idea to Public Works Traffic Division and our in works with coming up with a final resolution by 2025.
Speed Humps for 124th Between Broadway and Main Street
You've voiced your concerns and we have pushed forward to get these humps started on. This is a process that takes the entire community to get involved. There is a petition we have that you must sign to get these Speed Humps placed along 124th Street. Without these signatures this will be a task that is hard to complete. So we urge you all to get involved, sign the petition, and get it done. For more info or to sign the petition CLICK HERE.
